In 1887, a spirited group of groundhog hunters from Punxsutawney dubbed themselves “The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club.” One member of the club was an editor of Punxsutawney’s newspaper. Using his editorial clout, he proclaimed Punxsutawney Phil, the local groundhog, to be the one and only official weather prognosticating groundhog. He issued this proclamation on, appropriately enough, Groundhog Day. We had a good snowfall about 2 weeks ago, give or take, but it was nothing like this and we still have a lot more snow coming.  This could be called the first official snow storm of the winter, except it isn’t winter yet.  :?

This is fall weather.  :)

I got me a big ass remote today and I just had to post it.  This thing is so large it made me laugh just to look at it and I decided then and there that I was taking it home with me.  The thing only cost me $15 and it will provide me with years of entertainment in the form of a good laugh every now and then.  It was probably the best $15 I ever spent.  :D

It’s a universal remote, so I can control more than one piece of equipment with it.  Big remote for big jobs, I suppose.

It’s a good thing I don’t have to feed it.  :D

Thankfully, there are places like this out there.  Lots of ideas to make that chicken special and that beef sing.  :)   And, there’s lots of recipies for freaks who like vegetables too.  :)

It’s been a while since I have been able to add any systems to my home network and my server crashed a while ago.  That left me with no backups of my data so it was great to finally get my hands on some used computer gear.  The price (free) was right, too.  :D

So, now I have a functional server again with a decent sized hard drive so that I can backup my data across the network while I sleep.  :)

I managed to piece together another workstation too so there will be less waiting to use a computer at my house.  That’s always a good thing!

I was thinking about this, even more, recently, because the lease was up on my old minivan.  Yes.  It was getting close to that dreaded time again… time to renegotiate a new lease for a new vehicle.  I despise the entire process.  The dealership applies pressure through their sales tactics.  I counter with pressure to keep the price as low as possible.  But, we finally agreed on a price, putting me (and my family) into a new minivan.  The thing has satellite radio for me and a DVD player for my kids.  The DVD player has 30 video games built into it!  It’s great! 

I remember long trips when I was a kid.  All we had was “I spy…”.  :P
