We’re getting dumped on as I write this.

GTA Snow Storm

GTA Snow Storm

GTA Snow Storm

We had a good snowfall about 2 weeks ago, give or take, but it was nothing like this and we still have a lot more snow coming.  This could be called the first official snow storm of the winter, except it isn’t winter yet.  :?

This is fall weather.  :)

I just went through a major computer network overhaul.  Well… it’s pretty major for my home.  :)

It’s been a while since I have been able to add any systems to my home network and my server crashed a while ago.  That left me with no backups of my data so it was great to finally get my hands on some used computer gear.  The price (free) was right, too.  :D

So, now I have a functional server again with a decent sized hard drive so that I can backup my data across the network while I sleep.  :)

I managed to piece together another workstation too so there will be less waiting to use a computer at my house.  That’s always a good thing!

Still Catching Up

I am still catching up on unfinished business in most areas of my life.

I still have some domains to reinstall from my old web host.

I still have a shed to finish, although I can see a light at the end of that tunnel now.  :)

I just released a new phpLD theme, available free for download.

I have some more themes to get coded and I need to get some banners too!

I want to start posting more often on all of my blogs.  (And I have a few)  ;)

I have a server at home that I need to fix.  Something is wrong with the hardware and I just haven’t had time to troubleshoot it.

I have one blog in particular that is receiving some decent traffic (probably due to the fact that anyone with a website can advertise on it for free).  ;)   That website desperately needs a new skin!

The axe never stops grinding.  :)

This is just a quick update to let everyone know that I had to move web hosts and that took me a while.

I have also been working on a new shed in my back yard.  It’s not finished yet, but I will post before and after shots when it has been completed.

I have also been locked out of this blog for a little while and had to troubleshoot the reason why.  I had my password and everything, but kept getting a blank page within the admin section after signing in.  That required time to fix and time has been at a premium for me as of late.  Long story short, I am posting this, so you know I fixed the problem.  I updated to Wordpress 2.0.10 while I was at it.  :)

I’m off to see Spiderman 3 tonight.  I can’t wait.  I have heard that it is great!  :D   Maybe I’ll post a review if I have time in the next few days.

Thanks for staying with me.  :)

Well, I haven’t been online much over the past week.  The reason for my absence is that I was renovating our main floor bathroom.  It was fugly before!  I think it looks better now.  Here are some before and after shots.  What do you think?  Improvement or not?  Please feel free to comment.

First, the “before” shots…

Now, the “after” shots…

There was definitely a learning curve associated with this renovation.  It was the first time I had changed a toilet and I had to fight with a leak that was difficult to fix.  It was also the first time I have taken on an entire room all at once, painting, plumbing, fixtures, electrical, etc.  I’ve been to Home Depot about 15 times in the past week.  :)

I think it turned out all right.  :D

I’ve Been Tagged

I’ve been tagged by NeO.

The idea is for me to reveal 5 things about myself that you probably didn’t know and then tag 5 other bloggers who then do likewise.  Sorry, David, about taking my sweet ass time with this.  :)   Been busy as all hell.

Let’s see…  5 Things That You Probably Didn’t Know About Me…

1.  I don’t do the “webmaster thing” full time.  The job that actually pays my bills is in I.T.  I’m a self employed computer network engineer.  I like what I do, but I have been trying to learn the ways of the Webi (Webmaster Jedi).  One day, I hope to make as much online as I do offline.

2.  The longest job I ever held was as a supervisor for the national warehouse of the largest (at the time) music retailer in Canada.  I loved that job when I started, hated it by the time I left.  I met a lot of musicians and attended a lot of parties in the 8 years I worked there.  The nicest musician I met was Johnette Napolitano of Concrete Blonde.  She was so down to earth and friendly, it was amazing.

3.  I am a fussy eater.  Supremely fussy!  I like the foods that I like and I’ll try new things once in a while.  But, if I’ve decided that I don’t like a particular food, I can’t eat it, not ever, for any reason.  Some people will insist that I “try” something that I’ve tried a few times and hated it.  Why try it again?  I don’t get it.  Oh, and I absolutely HATE onions, in anything or alone, cooked or not.

4.  I tend to make friends for life.  I have known most of my offline friends for 20+ years.  (Yeah, I’m THAT old.)  :)

5.  I’ve been to Moscow 7 times.  As a matter of fact, I accumulated enough points from the first 6 times that the last flight was free.  :)   I love that city and it calls to me when I’ve been away too long.  The last time I went was in 2004.  :(   It’s a great city with great people.  If you ever get a chance to visit, just do it!

So, now that the reveal part is out of the way, on to the tagging.  I have to tag 5 others to carry on the tradition.  So, I am going to tag Louis, Dustin, Waffles, DarrenC and redQueen

redQueen ROCKS!  :)

I have just completed work on another directory.  Well, maybe it’s not complete.  Is any website, ever, actually complete?  :P

Anyway, the new web directory is Links-To-Your.COM.  There is a paid web directory there.  Submissions are currently $25 each and all submissions are for the life of the directory.  No annual fees.

I am also offering a secondary service as an offshoot of that directory.  You can currently have your website reviewed for $20 or $30.  $20 will get you a review with 3 different links.  $30 will get you a review with 5 different links.  The links can be deep links and all different, if you want.  You can also choose the anchor text of each link.  The pages are SEO friendly and will be indexed by search engines.

So, to recap, you can get 5 different lifetime backlinks for only $30!

These prices are subject to change without notice.

Submission Accomplished

First, I want to apologize to everyone who submitted URLs to my web directory recently.  I moved to another house at the end of July and had a million things to do.  Coupled with that, was a large increase in submissions to the directory.  That left me with a backlog of over 1500 submissions to approve or deny.

I am very happy to report that I am officially all caught up with my submissions.  There are zero submissions awaiting moderation!  WooHoo!

I would like to take a moment to ask that everyone really choose the category carefully when they are submitting to any web directory.  Make sure all your information is complete and accurate too!  I had to reject so many submissions because they were bad.  It wasted a huge amount of my time and the submitter’s time for nothing.  This, at a point when I really had no extra time to spare.  So, please be careful when submitting to web directories.

With that, I’d also like to announce that I have created a new directory, driven by paid submissions.  I have tried to keep the free directory very organized and spam free.  The new paid directory will be no different in that respect, so please feel free to submit your URLs to both quality directories.

I haven’t posted here in a while.  I have been very busy and have had a rough go of it lately.

In short, we sold our house, bought another house (after parading through over 60 houses) and we had to put one of our cats down.

It can only get better from here.
