There are many ways to get your website noticed.  We all want attention and it’s tough, sometimes, to get the attention of web surfers.  So, what can you do?

You can submit your websites to a premium web directory.  You can have someone blog about your websites.  You can blog about your own websites.  You can also put your websites in your signature at webmaster forums that you visit.

These are all great ways to get your websites in front of people.

Gay Cops Needed In Toronto

I read today that Toronto is looking for more people to become police officers.

Now, that, in itself, would not be strange.  What’s strange (read: dumb) is that they are specifically looking for gay police officers.  The fact that I’m not gay, excludes me from trying out.  It doesn’t matter how sympathetic to the gay community I am or how liberal I think.  No.  Because I’m not gay, they’re not looking for me.

It’s dumb.  There’s no such thing as reverse discrimination, folks.  Discrimination is discrimination, plain and simple.

Do you think it would be too much if I tricked out my Dodge Caravan with one of those cold air intake systems?  Or, maybe I should get a nice spoiler for the back.  I could always get a turbocharger for those times when I want to race another Caravan for pink slips.  How do you think a Caravan would look with some nice chrome rims:)

I’m wondering about the different types of design work there are.  Are all designers pretty much doing the same job?  Is there a difference between brochure design and web design, for example?  Would a person that designs business brochures sit down and use the same software and approach to a particular job as a person who designs websites for a living?  Obviously, their work is different enough, but, in general, I mean.  Are designers, pretty much, designers?

How do I retire wealthy?

That seems to be the goal we all set for ourselves when we hit our 20’s.  It’s at about that time that we realize a few things.  We will need a big nest egg towards the end of our lives in order to live a life of substance.  We only have a short time to accumulate that wealth, approximately 40 years.  And we only get one shot at it.

You can work for someone else at a “job”.  But, that usually pays poorly, so you have to supplement that income with some kind of legitimate home based business or you can forget about your golden years.  You can form your own company, but that takes more work than working for someone else… a LOT more work!

So, what’s the answer?  If you’re in debt, GET OUT OF DEBT!  Then, become this man’s best friend.  :)

What is your search engine marketing plan?

I’m curious.  Do you use the information gathered from forums for marketing your website(s)?  Do you utilize PPC search?  Link building campaigns and other SEO techniques would certainly rank high on the list of choices.  Do you buy links or bait them?  Which marketing methods do you prefer to bring search engine traffic to your website?  How do you get traffic that is not from the search engines?

Please post in the comments if you care to reveal a secret or two.  :)

Contextual Advertising

V7N has started a new contextual advertising service.  Advertisers buy V7N blog links and then V7N goes out and gets contextually relevant links for their advertisers in the form of blog posts.  Anyone can buy a link in a directory, but a link within a blog post is better because it is contextually relevant.  The text surrounding the link is on topic with the link and we all know that search engines value these links higher than some random link placed on a page somewhere.

Contextual linking is where it’s at.  Get with the times and start building your linking campaigns around contextual links.
